Caltech Guggenheim Aeronautical Laboratory Renovation

Overview

This project consisted of the rehabilitation and seismic upgrade of the historical Guggenheim Aeronautical Laboratory Building, which was originally constructed in 1928. The existing three-story subterranean building consisted of a concrete frame which required extensive structural upgrades and reconfiguration in order to accept the new laboratories and wind tunnel. The existing Merril Wind Tunnel was decommissioned and protected in place for relocation to the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. at the completion of the project . The new labs included the new wind tunnel, new water tunnel, and hydraulics lab.
